Regretion magic is cheap indeed, Mashima artificially puts FT team in position where they need help from outside, my bet is on sabertooth twin dragons. They are probably the ones who want to deal with Minerva after the festival. Flare could have stayed gone a little while. Don't come running in to save the day right after you tell people you have no interest in joining them! Minerva's on my nerves too. I know she's one of those characters who great just because she's so nasty, but seeing her declare her intent to kill a child (more or less) just makes me want to throttle her. Well, I don't particularly mind the regression magic.

It does seem a bit like too easy a way to put a cap on Natsu and Erza, but it's only a bit. It would have been annoying if he'd taken weeks to setup some more epic, sweeping reason they couldn't fight well. And it's nice that he put a cap on them. Weren't people complaining a few weeks ago about how they were losing to the hunters only because they were needlessly holding back? Erza and Natsu got a little bit too much day saving time since the tournament and Gray got maybe two or three chapters where he was all that relevant, so as long as this holds for a decent chunk of the arc I won't mind it at all.
