I think the Kyuubi in Minato already knows what happened to the other Kyuubi based on what it said to Minato about Naruto's feelings for his parents. They're likely connected either as one or like the bijuu.

I myself never imagined that Kyubbi was actually splitted into two � I also gave reasons bcause that time it actually felt like its just the chakra that has been splitted into two � Because when naruto took the chakra out from Kyubbi, Kyubbi shrinked � the same way when Minato sealed one half of kyubi, kyubi shrinked�
